Geology & Wildflowers of the Tivy Mountain Area
Sunday, March 22, 2009—8am to 3pm—$10/15

Biologist Rodney Olsen and Geologist Craig Poole will lead you in an investigation of interactions between the geology, soils, and plants in the lower Kings River area near Tivy Mt.  Meet at the Tivy Mountain Preserve. Bring lunch and water.

Go east from Fresno on Belmont Avenue. Belmont will turn into Trimmer Springs Road as it turns north along the Kings River. Follow Trimmer Springs Road to Piedra Road, turn right on Piedra Road and cross the Kings River. Proceed on Piedra Road to Elwood Road and turn left.

(Or, go east from Fresno on Kings Canyon Road. Cross the Kings River at Centerville and turn left on Piedra Road. Follow Piedra Road several miles to Elwood Road and turn right onto Elwood.)

You will see a Firehouse on your left and then some mailboxes on the right. The gate is on the right just past the mailboxes. (You do not want the first road on the right which goes up to a house on the hill.)

Classes are $10 for members or $20 for their family & $15 for non-members or $30 for their family.
